Fresh out of college, Steve owned and managed his own retail store, Soccer 2000, Inc. But the family business, started by his father in 1998, beckoned him in 1999 when he joined Maxim Enterprises—a company that provides property-preservation services to several of the nation’s top mortgage field-service companies.
“My dad started this company with very little money. We’ve actualized his vision of being an industry leader—Dad saw a huge opportunity in this market, and he knew he needed key players in the company,” Steve said.
Under Steve’s leadership as Chief Operating Officer, Maxim became one of the fastest-growing privately held companies in the nation. Recognized as an Inc. 500 company in 2005, Maxim has expanded it office staff to 25 full-time and 3 part-time employees supporting a network of 35 contractors serving clients in Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Maryland, Virginia and Wisconsin.
In 2008, Steve was a regional finalist for Ohio in the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.
Providing what the company calls “property preservation services,” Maxim Enterprises secures foreclosed properties to protect the assets of the mortgage holder until the property is transferred to a new owner.
To streamline documentation of their onsite work, Maxim utilizes mobile PCs which provide instant communication between contractor and client. Within hours rather than days, work orders, reports and photos are transferred. This cutting-edge technology places Maxim Enterprises at the top of its league.
Maxim launched yet another new company, P4C™ Preservation for Contractors, in the fall of 2006. P4C trains independent contractors interested in learning the property preservation side of the default-loan servicing business.
“P4C was conceived by a group of leading property preservation contractors across the nation who wanted to raise the level of professionalism in our industry,” Steve stated. “We have developed an industry knowledge program—including classroom learning and hands-on training—to give contractors insight into the property preservation industry and provide the basic knowledge and skills they need to improve their daily job performance and increase productivity.”
